Samreens Vanity: A Cultural Tribute Through Luxury Beauty
Samreens Vanity is a cosmetics brand created for immigrant women who seek symbols in everyday objects that remind them of their homeland and highlight their national identity. The brand’s concept is rooted in a deep respect for the cultural heritage of Pakistan and India.
The main objective was to redesign the brand and create a unique visual identity that would combine authenticity with the luxury segment.
- Truck Art: We drew inspiration from the graphics found on Pakistani lorries. For drivers, these decorations represent a link to home; for Samreens Vanity’s customers, they are a reflection of their identity.
- Peacock: A symbol of majesty, balance and happiness. Its motifs embody aesthetic beauty and patriotic belonging.
The packaging features a unique three-layer “feather” system inspired by the peacock’s tail:
- Main Subject: The target area of the product (e.g., lips for a lipstick) is the central focus.
- The Feathers: Three layers of shapes create a mask-like frame around the subject. The middle layer always consists of separate feathers with line-blend effects to create volume.
- Decorations: Dotted patterns and colored sectors emphasize the organic shapes, while varying line thicknesses on the product caps create a tactile, multi-dimensional feel.
- Primary Identifier: A high-contrast lettering logo featuring elegant serifs and wavy elements. It is paired with a handwritten descriptor that imitates fluid ink writing, adding a personal, human touch.
- Secondary Identifier (SV Icon): A minimalist abbreviation that preserves the elegant style of the main logo. The “S” stroke tapers toward the ends, emphasizing a delicate, high-fashion aesthetic.
- Primary: A clean mix of White, Black, and Vibrant Orange for core brand communication.
- Secondary: An expansive, bright palette used exclusively for packaging illustrations, inspired by the vivid colors of Pakistani trucks.
- Bon Vivant: A high-contrast serif font used for headlines to convey luxury.
- Outfit: A clean, geometric sans-serif used for long-form descriptions and technical notes to ensure modern readability.
Samreens Vanity is more than a beauty brand; it is a visual bridge between heritage and the future. By combining the flat, patterned style of Pakistani truck graphics with premium design principles, the project successfully captures the “magnificence” of the peacock and the heart of the immigrant experience.
