About Project

Matt Arquette doesn’t just design furniture, he rewrites the rules of the industry. From hand-crafted mini models to large-scale concepts that rethink everyday living, his design philosophy sits at the intersection of craft, innovation, and cultural impact. With 20+ years of obsession-level dedication, this project isn’t a “portfolio website.” It’s a creative manifesto, a look inside the mind of a designer who refuses to follow trends and instead sets them.

Matt is the force behind furniture that sparks emotion and provokes thought. His work challenges the norms of mass production and elevates furniture into the realm of collectible design. Collaborations with Roche Bobois, Lamborghini and other industry giants cement his status as a creator with global reach. Beyond designing, Matt licenses his concepts worldwide, turning ideas into desired, ownable pieces of culture.

Challenge

Build a website that hits differently.

The brief: create a minimal but high-impact digital identity that captures Matt’s vision, showcases his evolution, and amplifies his personal brand in the global design arena, from competitions to industry recognition.

Most furniture industry websites feel safe, flat, and soulless. We wanted the opposite, a site with a puфlse. The goal was to shape a digital experience that blends restraint with attitude: clean, confident, and emotionally charged. A balance of editorial clarity and bold character, unmistakably Matt Arquette.

Concept

The website was designed as a visit to a designer’s workshop – intimate, tactile, and rooted in craft. Matt constantly builds physical scale models of his furniture, not limiting himself to 3D renders. That hands-on, artisanal approach became the core of the concept.

Just like medieval craftsmen created one-of-a-kind pieces, Matt does the same today, only his tools have evolved from chisels to a computer. But the essence remains unchanged: handcrafted ideas turned into high-quality, collectible design. As Matt puts it himself: “I create design ideas in the form of furniture.”

We wanted the site to feel like stepping into his creative space.

A slightly dark, moody atmosphere, analogue textures, and crafted UI elements create the sense of a workshop, a place where ideas are shaped, tested, sculpted, and brought to life.

Main Visual Trick

The key visual idea was to invite users into the craftsman’s workshop, the place where raw ideas take shape. We created a dark, immersive section that symbolizes the atelier: a space where sketches, prototypes, and thoughts live before becoming final designs.

Entering the website feels like stepping straight into the designer’s workspace. The moody visual language, tactile details, and subtle motion cues echo the essence of a workshop – a creative lab where imagination sparks, evolves, and turns into form.

This isn’t a polished showroom. It’s the backstage of creation, where the magic actually happens.

Typography

A deliberate clash of modern Satoshi with the elegant, editorial Eiko creates a visual voice that feels both contemporary and timeless. The combination reflects Matt’s design approach, modern thinking grounded in the heritage of craft.

Palette

A mostly monochrome palette, echoing the look of workshop sketches on paper, sets a raw and authentic foundation. We disrupted it with a bold acid-green accent, a color that signals confidence, fearless creativity, and individuality. It embodies the values inherent to makers: self-worth, boldness, and unapologetic authenticity.
